At Shalom House we focus on restoring the lives of men and families in our community.
Many of the men who have been through our program have at one point or another come into contact with a TRIPLE ZERO HERO! A Triple Zero Hero is a man or a woman who answer callouts to emergencies – police officers, paramedics and fire fighters. They are our heroes, we call on them when we need them. They rush to help us, they make us feel safe, they save our lives and the lives of people we love and care about, they save our possessions and they selflessly put themselves in harm’s way to protect us.
With this type of work, however, comes PTSD, anxiety and depression, and suicide and mental health-impacting consequences are not uncommon. For this reason, this year the Shalom House team has chosen to fundraise for the Sirens of Silence Charity – a voice for our heroes.
Sirens of Silence Charity was founded in 2015; the organisation strives to achieve a healthy future for all emergency service personnel, provide a network of external self-help pathways and positive support networks to assist fellow members to work through the difficult times.
Their aim is to raise awareness of anxiety, depression, PTSDS and suicide within emergency services, as well as to privately support people in treatment.
We've created this team because we want to raise money and make a difference by participating in HBF Run for a Reason 2019. Please help us by giving whatever you can using the 'Give Now' button. The more people that know about HBF Run for a Reason 2019, the greater the impact, so please also spread the word by sharing our page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!
